The Word House is a diverse and high-quality spoken word night based in the heart of East London.

After numerous sold-out gigs, it is back showcasing three more exceptional poets from the Live Literature circuit, and offering Open Mic slots for anybody who wants to share their work.

In the capable hands of resident host Dan Simpson, and with original music mixed by DJ Able, there is no reason to miss out. Books and CDs also available for sale on the night.

// MARK GRIST
Recently commissioned by BBC3, acclaimed by Steve Merchant as "absolute dynamite", Mark Grist fuses hiphop with poetry. His recent 'Don't Flop' rap battle went viral on youtube, reaching nearly 2 million views. Thoughtful, moving and consistently hilarious.

// SABRINA MAHFOUZ
Multi-award winning artist Sabrina Mahfouz is hailed by The Times as being "in quite a different league". She has performed on BBC Radio 1, BBC1xtra and festival stages all over the world. Rhythmic, relevant, and unpretentious, her poetry draws inspiration from universal politics and a diverse cultural heritage.

// EMMA JONES
Due to represent London in Jack Dean's National Team Slam Olympics, Emma Jones combines her love of rhyme with her flair for character. Set to appear at Meadowlands Festival this summer, she recently performed at the Bang Said the Gun festive special, filmed by Channel 4 Random Acts.
